Gunwharf Quays is once again hosting its annual firework extravaganza on Friday 28th October but this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever with a visual spectacular set to music chosen by the local community. Local people were asked via Facebook and through Wave 105 to choose their favourite songs by a British artist or band and entries included suggestions such as The Beatles and Robbie Williams. On Friday they will have the chance to bop along to their favourite grooves and witness an incredible firework display lighting up the sky.
The evening will also feature a wide variety of events for all the family with a high impact dance trio performing ‘Kaleidoscope’ an extraordinary visual light show with lasers and illuminated LEDs as well as performances with cannon fire from Wet Picnic, the Eastleigh based self proclaimed ‘mischievous theatre’ company.
There will also be dance performances from two Portsmouth based groups ‘The Neptune Girls’, a vintage inspired all girl dance group from Southsea and hip hop performers ‘Streetforce DC’. Local band and Portsmouth favourites ‘The Three Belles’ with also be joining the fun with their 1940’s inspired vocal renditions of classic jazz tunes.
The firework display will start at 7.50pm and this year stores will be open until 9pm to allow visitors to do some late night shopping.
