Shiver me timbers and ahoy there me hearties!
October Half Term Workshops Inspired by Gunwharf Quays’ Naval History
Prepare to travel back in time at Gunwharf Quays this October half-term, as a host of fun workshops will be taking place which celebrate the centre's exciting heritage as a former naval site.
The ‘Dive and Seek’ drop-in workshops will be hosted in Central Square between midday and 4pm from 24th – 28th October 2011. Children and adults can take part in huge variety of craft activities including making mysterious marionette puppets, developing ancient maps, and creating props for a special show taking place on Friday 28th October as part of Gunwharf Quays’ firework evening. Taster sessions are free with an entrance charge for more in-depth workshops.
Peter Emery, Gunwharf Quays Centre Director, comments: “We’re really proud of our important naval heritage and that of the city of Portsmouth so we decided to create October half term workshops that embraced that. The holidays can be a stressful time for parents so we hope that these craft workshops will occupy the little ones and get their creative juices flowing.”
Dive and Seek forms part of Gunwharf Quays’ Depth Charge interactive arts project which kicks off during the October school holidays and culminates in a finale in April 2012.
