One of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year is back with the return of Blackpool Comes to Oldham which is in the town for three weeks including the February Half Term holidays. Opening this Friday, February 12 the annual event is set to be the most spectacular yet with over 25 thrilling rides and attractions, plus free family entertainment on selected days including a meet and greet with all the film characters, plus a kid-size sand pit complete with buckets, spades and deckchairs.
As always there’s also entertainment undercover too with the mini beach in an air-conditioned marquee so even if it is a little chilly outside, children can build the perfect sandcastle or Mum and dad can sit back and relax with a hot drink coffee and cake while the thrill seekers head outside to sample an amazing array of attractions.
And this year the rides which will dominate the skyline already are more spectacular than ever and great value too especially with all prices being held once again with an unlimited ride wristband, starting at just £5.99. New for 2016 is the Top Scan which takes riders 30 metres skywards and is the only one to be found on any travelling theme park in the UK.
Another brand new attraction is the Wheel of Vision with new enclosed gondala’s, this is England’s tallest travelling Ferris Wheel standing at 35 metres and will offer some amazing views for miles while there is also the thrilling King Swing, a dazzling-lit suspended seat swinging structure which takes riders skywards before a free fall back towards ground level in a stomach tingling adrenalin rush as well as the Speed Buzz – standing a whopping 38 metres high. It’s not just about the thrill rides though there are lots of attractions for the families too with a child friendly Roller Coaster, the Dodgems, Miami Trip and the SuperBob as well as for the really small kids plenty of smaller rides including the new Race-o-Rama ride, chair-o-planes and cups & saucers.
The weekend of 13th & 14th February will see Stormtroopers, Darth Vader and Star Wars characters in attendance while on the 20th and 21st of February there will be a sing a long with the Snow princesses plus lots of photo opportunities and the chance to meet and greet for the kids!
And Thursday’s are sure to be popular with your mates as they are ‘Bring a Friend Day’s - basically one person buy’s a wristband and their friend comes in Free!
