The ever popular Newcastle Keen Green and Ethical Trade Market rolls back into town promising a feast of fun for all the family.
Now in its 4th year, the eco-friendly street market, organised by the Market Square Group, will be held at Grainger Street and Grey’s Monument and will feature stalls selling ethically traded arts, crafts, clothing and jewellery, together with an international line up of foods featuring freshly cooked takeaway dishes, together with homemade, organic and free range groceries.
To add to the festival atmosphere, there will be live music and craft demonstrations and on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8, visitors will be entertained by The Company of Artisans who will be demonstrating ancient sustainable building and tiling techniques. Karen Slade from the company said: “We will be holding workshops throughout the day where local people can learn how buildings were constructed hundreds of years ago and even have a go at making their own medieval tiles, which they can take home afterwards, or try their hand at building their own mud and timber frame structure.”
The Company of Artisans will be running regular workshops throughout the day between 9.30am – 5.00pm. School groups wishing to book class workshops should call Karen on 07814 724484 to arrange a time.
Visitors can also test their musical rhythm by joining in ‘Bongo Bert’s Drumming Workshops’
Come and join in the fun at Newcastle upon Tyne’s Keen, Green and Ethical Trade Market.
