Set against a backdrop of stunning Highland scenery, the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon Festival of Running has something to offer runners of all abilities on Sunday, September 27 – including a fast and flat 10K route.
The River Ness 10K is an ideal course for PBs, while giving runners the chance to admire the views of Inverness Castle and other sights whilst they make their way through the Highland capital and along the banks of the river. The 10K Corporate Challenge follows the same course, and is open to groups of four to six workmates to compete for the coveted Corporate Challenge trophy.
Fun seekers need look no further than the River Ness 5K Fun Run, which provides the fantastic opportunity to gather friends and family of all ages and abilities. The Wee Nessie run, for children aged five and under, also allows the little ones to take part in a short, enclosed route in Bught Park.
The major event of the Festival is the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon – general entries are now closed, but still available for club, charity and overseas runners until 7 September. This is also the deadline for entries into the 10K, 10K Corporate Challenge, 5K and Wee Nessie.
Over 9,000 people took part in last year’s Baxters Loch Ness Marathon Festival of Running, and were joined by thousands more spectators who lined the course and gathered in the Event Village to cheer the runners over the finish line.
The hub and finish line will once again be set up in Inverness’ Bught Park and has lots to offer both runners and spectators, including live music, the Baxters Food and Drink fayre, a sports expo, and activities for children.
